NEIGHBOUR ALLEGED TO HAVE CUT WIRES.
Henry Box, when charged in the Magistrate’s Court this morning with permitting horses to be turned on land not so fenced as to prevent the horses from being within twenty-five links of a dwelling, gave as his defence that a neighbour was in the habit of snipping the wfires of the fence with pliers. Ihe defendant was represented by Mr Burns. Mr 11. P. Lawry, S.M ~ was on the Bench. Ihe City Inspector (Mr L. Hardie) stated that the fence was quite insufficient and that a slip rail was never put up to keep the horses away from the dwelling. Box maintained that as fast as he mended the fence a neighbour cut the wires. “D° es he do it repeatedly?” Yes, all night and all day, for that matter.” 1 he case was adjourned to allow defendant to call witnesses to prove his contention.
