ENGLISH NEWSPAPERS PAY GREAT TRIBUTES.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, July 7. News of the death of Sir Joseph Ward was received in England with general regret. All the newspapers contain long and appreciative notices of his services as an outstanding Imperialist. They lay emphasis on his advocacy of an Imperial penny postage, the gift of a dreadnought, and of his services to the Imperial War Cabinet in 1918. “Tke Times” says: “Sir Joseph Ward was a ceaseless worker for New Zealand and the Empire, possessing unbounded faith in both. He carried through his policy where others might have failed, because he inspired public confidence.”
