MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) Fined £5. Cecil Rowe was fined £3 and costs for using the name of a registered plumber to induce a belief that he was registered. On a second charge of being an unregistered person and doing sanitary plumbing, the defendant was fined £2 and costs. Unlicensed Wireless. On charges of having unlicensed wireless sets the following were fined:— Gordon Edward Bagot, 15s and costs; William Bertie Gates, £1 and costs; Huia Henry Shaw, £1 and costs: Ernest Lawrence Watts, £2 and costs. Hawker Fined. For carrying on the trade of a hawker within a prohibited area, Frank William Williams was fined £1 and costs. RANGIORA. (Before Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M.) Donald M’Lean, farmer, Amberley, was charged with trespassing in the office of John Munro, stock inspector of Amberley, and with resisting Constable Kennedy in the execution of his duty. Mr E. D. R. Smith appeared for accused, who pleaded guilty. Having agreed to take out a prohibition order, the accused was fined £2, with witnesses expenses £1 16s, on the first charge, and £2, in default fourteen days’ hard labour, on the second. Civil Cases. Judgment for plaintiff by default with costs was given in the following cases: Horrell’s Garage v. W. G. Wood, £l2 5s Id; T. A. Will v. W. G. Wood, £4 11s; C. E. Cattermoor v. Edward Snellex £2 12s 6d. F. Wilson (Mr J. A. Johnston), claimed £7 16s from D. A. Coffar (T. Papprill) as rent due for a bach at Leith* field Beach. After hearing evidence, judgment was given for the plaintiff for £3 with costs £1 3s and witness’s expenses 14s. In a judgment eummons case, W. G. Wood was ordered to pay C. J. Smith £2 14s 6d forthwith in default three days’ imprisonment. J. Barr was ordered to pay A. C. Midgley £5 _4s 8d on July 23, in default five days* imprisonment.
