MAGISTRATE DEALS WITH CITY BY-LAW OFFENDERS.
Motorists were dealt with for breaches of the by-laws, by Mr E. D. Mosley, S.M., at a sitting of the Court this morning. For leaving cars parked over the time limit, the following w*ere each fined 10s and costs: Jack Brooke-Tay-lor, Edward W. Cordingly, Henry G. Livingstone, Reginald Watkins, Isaac J. Wilson, Iris Montgomery, and George A. Snelgrove (Mr E. S. Bowie). For passing standing trams, Emily Stella Benny and Elizabeth Calvert were each fined 30s and costs. Leonard Andrews was fined £5 and costs for using an unlicensed motorlorry. For a similar offence, Isaac G. Watkins was fined 20s and costs. On a charge of obstructing traffic, Marjorie MacDonald was fined 20s and costs. Claude Smith was fined 10s and costs for driving without a license. For failing to produce his license, George Witte was fined 10s and costs. Reginald Watkins was convicted and discharged for having an obscured number plate. For driving at a dangerous speed, Albert Ernest Leggett and Archibald Robinson (Mr E. S. Bowie) were both fined £2 and costs. George William Loughton was fined 20s and costs for having ineffcient brakes on his car. Voluntary Appearances. Trevor S. Harris was fined £5 and costs for driving at a dangerous speed. Traffic Inspector Macintosh said that the defendant drove along Bealey Avenue at 40 miles per hour, which was a low estimate of the speed. He had, however, slowed at the corners. Edward G. AJ’Cullough was fined 10s and costs for not parking his car alongside the kerb. For cycling at night without a light, Robert Wood was fined 10s and costs. Philip Arthur Williams was fined 10s and costs for parking his car in a prohibited area.
