TEAM FOR GAMES ASSEMBLE TO-DAY.
ROWING CREW SHOW IMPROVEMENT IN FORM. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, June 30. The New Zealand team for the Empire Games assembled to-day. Mr R. J. Hobbs, the manager, said it appeared that the best prospects were in the rowing crew, which showed the fastest pace yesterday for the first time, and delighted their coach. The Australian team arrived by the Aorangi. It consists of a manager, Mr H. R. Weir, and the following representatives :—Rowing, Pearce; swimming, Ryan and Cameron; athletics, Whyte (long distance), Hillhouse (middle distance), Golding and Bascombe (quarter-mile); boxing, Gallagher. Mr Harry Pearce accompanies his son as a rowing coach.
