Ellis, F. Bridgens, S. Ellis, A. M’Millan, T. Nelson, A. Thompson. Western opened up against the sun. A free-kick well placed by Whittington brought Nomads trouble, but finally Nelson headed over. Western looked dangerous in a couple of loose raids, but a goal-kick relieved. Goddard secured well down and lifted the leather to goal. Tackled, Colville pushed out for a corner. Clasper swung the kick across and, ten yards out, Pickup flashed a beautiful header past G. Colville. Nomads 1, Western 0. A score for Western looked certain when Muscroft miskicked right in front of his own goal, but no fewer than four shots missed by a fraction. A nice run by Nelson gave M’Mlllan a chance, but the centre's strong drive was inches too high. Then Bridgens ran right down, only to connect with the near upright. Western continued to do most of the attacking, but poor shooting spoiled a dozen good movements. Half-time score:— Nomads 1. Western 0. Liddell opened up a promising Nomads movement but Goddard missed badly with his shot. Fast and lively exchanges ruled for a spell. Western were in trouble when Goddard shot from close in, with the ’keeper drawn, but E. Colville blocked the- shot on the goalline. Roberts made the most of a free-kick against Graham but Nomads conceded a fruitless corner. Western had the most of the play for a spell but did not look like scoring. Thompson got an awkward screw on a strong drive but Sharr fielded it cleanly. With eight minutes to go, Nomads still held the lead. A miss by Liddell let Bridgens away dangerously but he shot past. In the final stages Western gained a free kick almost under the posts, but it was cleared and the gamg ended with the score:— NOMADS . _ i WESTERN _ 0 Referee: Mr J. Cawtheray. THISTLE V. SUMNER.
