STRANGE AFFAIR AT LIGHTHOUSE.
TWO MEN ARE MISSING; KEEPER’S BODY FOUND. Per Press Association. NELSON, June 28. The lighthouse at French Pass continued to function yesterday, until late in the morning and the mail contractor did not arrive at the French Pass Post Office for his mail.. The Postmaster (Mr Webber) investigated the unusual happenings and found that both the lighthc*use keeper. Reginald Sherwood and the mail contractor, Clifford Kassey, were missing. The men went out in a dinghy on Thursday night and had not returned. The body of the lighthouse keeper was found yesterday afternoon on the D’Urville Island side of the pass and the dinghy was found near Clay Point. Kassey’s body has not been recovered. Kassey was a returned soldier, married, with four children. Sherwood was married with two children. Both men were aged about 37 years.
