FENCE SMASHED BY FIRE ENGINE.
UNUSUAL ACCIDENT AT INTERSECTION TO-DAY.
A fire engine loaded with a crew proceeding to an outbreak at Linwood met with an accident at the intersection of Fitzgerald Avenue and Armagh Street a few minutes before one o’clock today. Turning from the avenue into Armagh Street, the engine took too big a curve. One wheel went into a deep gutter on the north side of Armagh Street and the superstructure grazed an electric light pole. This apparently deprived the driver temporarily of control and the machine swung round and crashed through an iron fence on the south side of the road. One man was thrown out but none of the occupants were injured The windscreen of the engine (a big Dennis vehicle) was badly smashed, two lamps were damaged and other minor damage done.
