After normal business yesterday special interest attached to this morning’s call by reason of a favourable report from the Waihi mine. This brought a sale at 14s 3d, a rise of sixpence on the last transaction, with more wanted at the same money. Banks' shares are steady and quiet at late rates. Wilson’s Cement showed an easing of 9d, at £2 4s 9d. but with this concluded holders again asked £2 5s 3d. New Zealand Insurances are still wanted at £2 7s, and Goldsboro. Morts. have firmed up, with buyers at £1 9s 3d. A sale of Farmers’ Trading at 8s 3d shows a drop of 9d in the last transaction, but the final dividend has been paid in the interim. A parcel of Government Stocks, 6J per cent (1933) was offered at £99 7s 6d. PROPERTY SALE. Tonks, Norton and Co., Ltd., report having sold by public auction, at their rooms yesterday, on account of the Dis trict Public Trustee, as executor of the will of Jamos Patrick O’Malley, deceased, that city property situate at the corner of Ferry Road and Barbadoes Street, containing eight perches, on which is erected a wooden building sub-divided into two shops and living rooms, for £lslO cash. There was a good attendance of buyers and the bidding was bright and spirited. 161 LOITOOH PRODUCE MARKETS. VEGETABLES AND FRUIT. CHRISTCHURCH MARKETS. During the week the vegetable market has been very brisk, and has been particularly good for all lines. Although prices ruling have not been exceptionally high, they have been most satisfactory, and the market altogether hat? been very muon alive. Apples have been in fair supply. Both dessert and cooking varieties have met with a good demand, and prices have been firm. There has been a steady Inquiry for good pears, and sufficient for present requirements have been coming on to th*» market, and have sold at prices which are unchanged. A few hot-house toma toes still c**me to hand. They have met with a small inquiry at prices on a par with those of last week. Small quan tities of hot-houße grapes are coming on to the market, and meeting with a good demand, are selling at high prices. Auckland passions and poorman oranges are coming on to the market in limited supplies, and prices are high. Supplies of Auckland lemons are also very short, and they are high in price. Supplies of citrus fruits which arrived from Australia during the week, met with a good demand, and sold at slightlyadvanced rates. Australian lemons are at present in short supply, and prices are exceedingly high. The usual shipment of citrus fruits from Sydney will come to hand on Wednesday. On July 3 the Maheno is due to arrive from Melbourne with a large shipment of South Australian navel oranges and also lemons. On the same date shipments of Cook Island oranges and bananas, and San Francisco lemons and grapefruit are due to arrive.
