THE MUSIC CIRCLE.
The Music Circle held another of their most enjoyable afternoons last* Saturday, and an instructive afternoon was provided The members visited ' the home of MiSs Sybil Bennett. The paper prepared and sent along by Marjorie Alexander was written about “Kreisler.” This was a good subject for the day, as Sybil is our only member who plays the violin. The programme submitted, though short, was appreciated by those present. Piano solos, Rae Dettmer, “Valse” (Charles Dennee): Daphne Cashmore, "‘ln Norway” (Lief Hackonsen); Sadie Lilly, “Plainte d’Amour” (A. Tellier); Jean Houghton, “Sonata” (L. van Beethoven) ; Cusheen O’Byrne, “Dance of the Fiends” (Alan Macey), and Mrs Bennett. Vocal solos, Sybil Bennett, “A Young Girl’s Song” (M. E. Philips). Violin solo, Sybil Bennett. “Largo ” (Handel) Our sincere thanks are due to Sybil and Mrs Bennett for the enjoyable afternoon given us. Our next meeting on July 19 is at the home of Daphne Cashmore, 95, Caledonian Road. “Girl genius in the musical world” is the subject to be prepared by Maurice Jarden. Members are requested to ensure a full attendance. They are also at liberty to bring one friend interested in music. Jean Houghton, Hon. Secretary.
