GROWING COMPETITION.
All essays on the Greek schoolchild must be sent in to the “ Star ” Office within the next da3 r or two. It has been very difficult, though quite possible, to grow lettuces to be ready now. The successful and courageous gardeners who have succeeded must leave their lettuces with Aunt Hilda within the next day or two, as all entries must be in by the end of the month. If the frosts have cut off and spoilt your lettuces, a cabbage may be sent instead. However, we would sooner get a small lettuce, so, if you have any, send in one specimen.
