CYCLE ROAD RACE HELD AT MAIREHAU.

The Mai reha u Sports Club held a twenty miles road race at Mairehau this afternoon. Twenty-five riders started. The roads were good and the weather fine. The scratch men were: W. R. Willmdtt, J. W. Jordan. Jj. W. Hill and S. Arnst, who were giving Sowden and M’Kaskell one and a half minutes’ start. Four riders were on the limit. Turner, Sibley, Mugford, Dixon and Forter led the first lap. WiJlmott, who was untrained, retired the first lap. The scratch men were 4min 46sec behind the limit. With half the journey over, the same riders were in the lead, followed five seconds later by Be arm an, Fleming and Hodge followed over a minute later by a big team consisting of M’Kaskell, Leathern. Silvester, White, Sowden and A. C. Hill followed 42 seconds later. L. W. Hill, Jordan and Arnst passed three minutes after the leaders. Turner, Porter, Sibley and Dixon led with four and a half miles to go. Silvester, White, M’Kaskell. Leathern, Sowden, A. C. Hill and Beatman were riding well, 4<l seconds behind the leaders, L. W. Hill, Jordan and Arnst were 47 seconds behind the big bunch, and liftin 50sec behind the leaders. A dozen riders participated in the filial sprint and the race resulted as follows: E. A.
