RESCUE 11. LAUNCHED AT SUMNER TO-DAY.
The official launching and christening of the Sumner lifeboat took place this afternoon in the presence of thousands of spectators. Archbishop Julius assisted by the Rev H. W. Smith, performed the dedication ceremony. Mrs 'Y. IT. Nicholson christened the boat Rescue 11. and it ran down the slipway into the harbour.
Congratulatory speeches were afterwards given by Mr J. M’Combs. M P, Mrs J. M'Combs representing the hristchurch City Council, Ivieut-Com-mander Kersley. R.NT.V.R, the Mayor of Lyttelton (Mr W. T Foster): Mr C. H Clibborn. secretary of the Lyttelton Harbour Hoard, and Captain G. Hines.
