PORT NEWS.
EX-SERVICEMEN’S REUNION. At a meeting of the committee of the Lyttelton ex-serviceinen it was decided to hold a smoke concert and reunion on June 14. Messrs R. Saunders, W. Newfield, M. Nelson, L. Radonavich, H. Mead and H. Baljin were elected an entertainment committee. It was decided to hold a general meeting of all ex-servicemen during the week-end in the orderly room. UNEMPLOYMENT PROBLEM. From what can be ascertained there are few married men unemployed at Lyttelton, but a good number of youths are out of work. It is difficult to ascertain the extent of unemployment in the port, as many find casual work on the waterfront. CANCER CAMPAIGN FUND. The Lyttelton Committee of the British Empire Cancer Campaign Society will commence a canvass for funds at the beginning of next week Citizens are requested to forward theii donations to the Town Clerk as soon as possible.
