The Fire Brigade received a call at 10.48 last evening to the premises of the Park Fish Supply, occupied by Mr W. 11. Reynolds, at 298, Colombo Street, Sydenham, where a small fire was found in a downstairs living room at the rear of the two-storeyed premises. Slight damage was done to the -lining. As a result of a shunting accident in the Lambton Station yard, Wellington, at 6.15 this morning, twelve feet of the side of a composite first and second carriage was torn out. Empty carriages were being taken out of the yard, when two carrages became derailed, one striking an engine standing on an adjacent line. Nobody was injured, says a Press Association message. The most popular taxis in Christchurch to-day are the Gold Bands. Why? Because they are the best in every way. They have a continuous service, a day shift and a night shift of drivers and office staff; in fact, the Gold Bands never sleep, and are always waiting for you to dial 34-075 or 35-572 at any hour; and we charge no extra. 2 *
