MOTION TO HAVE THE DESTRUCTOR REMOVED

COUNCIL WORKERS MAY HAVE SALARIES SCHEME.

Immediate removal of the destructor plant, and the institution of a classification scheme for salaries of each of the City Council staffs, are matters which will be brought before the City Council at its next meeting by motions in the name of Councillors H. T. J. Thacker and Annie Fraer. The motions are as follow:

Councillor Thacker to move— 44 That the Works and Sanitary Committee be asked to go into the question of the immediate removal of the destructor plant from its present site to a site on or near the Bromley sewerage farm.” Councillor Fraer to move—“ That the council set up a special committee to draft a classification scheme for the staff of every department of the council, grading the maximum and minimum salaries attached to each staff, on lines similar to the Auckland scheme; that the personnel of the committee shall consist of the chairmen of the Finance, Works and Electricity Con> mittees and Councillors E. H. Andrews, A. W. Beaven and the mover.”
