Count Romanones, a Liberal leader and a former Prime Minister, quickly dispelled the idea that he is a Republican. Interviewed at Bordeaux, he said: “A constitutional monarchy is the only form of government to save the Spanish monarchy. We should immediately establish a Government on the lines of the British.”
