DIN AND ROAR ARE CAUSE OF DEATH.
NOISE BLAMED FOR MANY DISORDERS IN WORKERS.
(United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received February 11, 11.10 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 10. A Chicago message states that the Health Department is surveying the city’s din and roar, using two human observers and amazingly delicate instruments in laboratory experiments with animals. Dr Hollinger, an ear specialist, found that the detrimental influence of loud noises on general health was so great that animals simply perished. It is claimed that noises are responsible to a great degree for the fatigue of city workers and many cases of high blood pressure and nervous exhaustion.
