GAME BY WORLD’S CHAMPION. A fine game scored by the present world’s champion in the final round of the Second Scottish Tournament, 1894, against James Ferric, who shortly afterwards defeated the late J. Wyllie in a match for the world’s championship. Opening—Second Double Corner. Black,
Notes from the “ Draughts Review.” (a) This variation of the Second Double Corner will alwavs be associated with Mr Stewart’s name, as he was the first prominent player to exploit the line m serious play. 23—18 is the commanding move that makes the most, of the position and justifies the preceding sacrifice of a man. 29—25 is an older move which probably draws with some difficulty. For details an analvsls in the “Draughts World” for October, 1899, may probably be consulted. (e) A game which for a time revolutionised the practice of the Second Double Corner. FROM AMERICA.
