LATE SOCIAL NEWS.

Out of ten applicants, Miss Doris Strongman, of the Wairau Hospital, Blenheim, was appointed matron of the Westland Hospital, last evening. NAVAL WEDDING. B EAUCH AM P—M URRAY. The lovely garden at “ Braemar ” formed the setting for a most picturesque wedding to-day, when Molly, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs George Murray of “ Braemar ” was married to Lieutenant Commander R. R. Beauchamp, son of the late Sir Sydney Beauchamp and Lady Beauchamp, of London. The house was filled with flowers in a colour scheme of soft blues and shades of gold which was carried out in tall blue delp'hiniums and larkspur and masses of vivid marigolds. The Rev. Mac Williams performed the ceremony and the best man was Lieutenant Commander Lang, of England. The bride wore a charming frock of honey-suckle coloured brocaded satin made on simple lines with a tight, close-fitting bodice, long tight sleeves, which ended in a point at the wrist, and a yoke of deep, cream georgette. The full flare skirt was slightly gathered at the waist and the drooping hemline at the back formed a short train. The deep cream embroidered veil was arranged to form a Juliette cap effect and w’as caught at the sides with tiny sprays of orange blossom. A beautiful bouquet of silk shot roses completed an effective picture. Miss Betty Murray (sister of the bride) was the only bridesmaid and wore a beautiful frock of gold w r atered silk shot with shades of gold, and patterned with bunches of roses in a soft shade of pink. A bandeau made of gold and rose coloured flowers encircled her head, and she wore a scarf effect of gold tulle. She carried a bouquet of shaded roses to match her frock. Mr and Mrs George Murray received their guests in the billiards room of “ Braemar,” w’hich was effectively arranged with vases of orange marigolds, larkspur, delphiniums and lupins in shades of blue, and backed by feathery greenery. Mrs Murray wore a becoming frock of dove grey crepeline flecked, with fleeces of liberty blue. A waterfall flare from the shoulder -was caught in at the waist by a buckle and fell from the w’aist below the hem of the frock. With this was w’orn a smart hat of blue and grey and she carried a bouquet of deep crimson carnations. The bridal table was artistically decorated in shades of blue and pink and Mrs Beauchamp cut the cake with her husband’s sword.

Mrs Bruce Murray (sister-in-law of the bride) wore a charming frock of cherry-coloured crepe de chine with the yolk outlined in tiny white beads and a tailored coat with a hat to match. Mrs Gerald Murray (sister of the bride) wore a smart frock of silver grev crepe de chine with a coat .of grey English w’orsted, trimmed with grey squirrel, and a becoming pevanche blue hat.

Later in the afternoon Lieutenant and Mrs Beauchamp left for the south bv motor, the latter wearing an effective frock of floral ninon patterned in rose, lemon and blue and made .with, a plain tight bodice and a full skirt dipping at the back and a short coat made of the same material. Her lemon-coloured hat was edged round the brim with black velvet, and had two flat black and lemon coloured flowers placed on the brim at each side.
