Per Press Association. \VELLINGTON, January i2. llarbouring resentment towards the chief officer of the steamer Herminius over a. matter of discipline some months ago, Frederick Gardner, aged forty-seven. a member of the crew. went to a. cabin on Saturday while under the influence of liquor, used o‘nsc as language, and struck the chief oflicer. As a result he appeared in Court today and was fined £3 and costs, in default three days' imprisonment
