WASHHOUSE DAMAGED BY FIRE THIS MORNING.
An eight-roomed house at 37, Webb Street, St Albans, was threatened this morning when fire broke out in a washhouse attached to the rear of the premises. The Fire Brigade, after a struggle, were able to coniine the fire to the wash-house, which, with its contents, was badly damaged. The back wall of the house was scorched. The building, which is owned and occupied by Mrs Scott-Baker, is insured with the New Zealand Office. The contents were not insured.
