HOLIDAY HINTS.
Safety on the beaches during the holiday season is the aim of a series of “Don’ts for Bathers” issued by the National Safety Council of Australia. DON’T forget to learn to swim this year—you will make your holiday safer. DON’T bathe in dangerous spots—life savers cannot work miracles. DON’T bathe immediately after a hearty meal—this often causes cramp. DON’T go into the water when overheated—cool off when you reach the beach. DON’T swim out too far—remember you have to get back. DON’T leave bottles and broken glass on the beach—someone will get cut. DON’T change places in small rowing boats—they may upset. DON’T let your play develop into horseplay—it then becomes a danger to others. DON’T dive into shallow water—test the depth before diving. DON’T put off learning life saving and artificial respiration. DON’T overcrowd rowing or fishing boats.
