TROTTERS STRAY FROM PADDOCK.
RODDY AND WILD SPUR LOOSE AT ADDINGTON
Two trotting horses, Roddy and Wild Spur, strayed from a paddock at Addington early this morning. At 2.30 p.m. to-day, they had not been found. The horses were the property of Mr Alex Smith, a North Otago trainer, who was staying at the Star Hotel, Addington. They had been quartered in a paddock at the rear of the hotel. The horses were missed at 3 a.m. today. The gate was then securely shut, and no trace could be found of the animals. It is supposed that they escaped through a back fence. Roddy was placed first in the mile saddle event at the Addington trots on New Year’s Day. Search parties were out all morning looking for the missing horses, but without success. The matter has been reported to the Addington police, who are making investigations. Marks were found this afternoon indicating that the horses got over a sl%>rail and headed down Lincoln road. Some months ago, Imprint and Dilnon escaped from the same paddock in a similar manner. They were out all night before being recaptured.
