PARSIMONY SHOWN BY MR MACDONALD
ONLY TWO SUPPORTERS RAISED TO PEERAGE. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyrigh t.) (Received January 2, 11 a.m.) LONDON, January 1. The “ Manchester Guardian ” commenting on the New Year Honours list says that Mr MacDonald has again shown strict economy, even parsimony, in creating his Labour supporters peers. He only appointed three in 1924, Lord Arnold, Lord Olivier and Lord Thomson. This year he has limited his political appointments to two: Mr Arthur Ponsonby, whose Parliamentary style will suit the House of Lords better than the House of Commons, and a man who is obviously intended to strengthen Labour’s debating force.
