Swedish Infant Endowment.
The borough of Bollnaes, the Swedish province of ilelsingland, recently decided to give four Swedish kronor for every new-born baby, thus creating a fund for old-age pensions in that community. At present about 250 babies are born at Bollnaes every year, and the communal authorities will thus annually pay 1000 kronor to the Royal Pension Department, states an English exchange. Out of this money, with accumulated interest, a pension is to be paid to the old Bollnaes inhabitants when they have reached the age of sixty-two years, or earlier in the case of invalidity. The Bollnaes idea would materially add to the State pension if realised all over the country.
