LIGHTHOUSE ISOLATED BY TERRIFIC SEAS.
RESCUERS SEND FOOD OVER A LIFELINE. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (Received December 17, 11.30 a.m.) PARIS, December 16. During the week the black flag was displayed at Lavielle Lighthouse, the two occupants of which were cut off from civilisation for forty-seven days. Terrific seas prevented any vessel’s approach till yesterday, when the seas prevented a rescue ship getting nearer than twenty yards and also smashed the rudder, but the ship managed to send off food by means of a lifeline. Above the tumult the lighthouse men were faintly heard to shout: “Thanks. All well. We have got all we want.”
