COLONEL P. C. FENWICK APPOINTED CHIEF SCOUT.

At the annual meeting of the Dominion Boy Scout Council, a resolution of appreciation and thanks was unanimously carried to his Excellency the Governor-General for his active support and sympathy for the Boy Scout movement in New Zealand, to which the following reply has been received from the Official Secretary, Government House, Wellington:—“Their Excellencies desire me, in expressing their sincere thanks to the council for its very kind action, to say how much they appreciate the remarks made by the chairman and the form in which the resolution was passed. They send their warmest good wishes to all New Zealand Scouts, and trust that the movement will continue to make good progress, for the value of its influence cannot, they feel, be 'over-estimated ” Captain J. (Gisborne), chairman of the Dominion Boy Scout Council, has received the following cablegram from Lord Baden-Powcll with regard to the Dominion Council’s recommendation to Imperial Headquarters that Colonel P. Clennell Fenwick, C.M.G. (Christchurch) should be appointed Dominion Chief Commissioner, vice Brigadier-General A. W. Andrew, C.M.G., resigned:—“ The Executive Committee of Council agree to the recommendation of Dominion Council to appoint Colonel P. Clennell Fehwick as Dominion Chief Commissioner. Warrant follows.”
