STEAMER KAIWARRA SPEEDING TO SCENE.
WIRELESS MESSAGES HEARD BY WAHINE
About 1 a.rn. to-day the wireless operator of the ferry steamer Wahine intercepted part of a message from the Awarua station and the steamer Kaiwarra.
The message, after giving the Kaiwarra instructions, stated that the Manuka was ashore south of Nugget Point. She apparently went ashore about 11.30 o’clock last night in foggy weather. It was expected that the Kaiwarra. apparently bound from Timaru to Dunedin, would reach the Manuka about 11 a.m. to-day. The point where the Manuka is ashore is about twenty-three milesouth of Nugget Point.
