HEATHCOTE NEWS.
The final social of a series continued throughout the year, under the auspices of the Ileatheote Club, was held in the Club Hall on Saturday evening. There was a large attendance and an enjoyable evening was spent in dancing. A lucky spot waltz was won by Mr and Mrs Davis. The music for the dancing was supplied by Mrs Loney, and Mr N. Rogers played ex tras. Mr R. Robertson was M.C.
Playing in the Domain on Saturday afternoon, the Heathcote cricket team defeated Ballin Brothers by 156 runs to 16. For Heathcote, Collier scored 61 retired, W. Truscott 30, E. Dickey 13 and Brooks 10. Dickey took five wickets for two runs, Collier two for 3, and Connolly two for 10. For Ballin Brothers, Eclwards scored 5 runs. Hansen took three wickets for 54 runs and Rhind two for 6.
A cricket match was also played be tween teams representing Heathcote and the Lyttelton Railway. The game resulted in a win for Heathcote by 170 runs (Shroder 50, S. Perkins 54, 11. Perkins 13, IT. Deavoll 12, A Truscott 10 and F. Redden 10) to 55 (Moyle 16 and Elkis 8).
At the bowling tournament held on the Heathcote green during the weekend, Mr C. Flavell, on behalf of the Canterbury Seed Company, presented the Heathcote Bowling Club with a silver challenge cup.
