COUNCIL DISCUSSES NEW BRIGHTON AFFAIRS.
The New Brighton Borough Council met last night. Present—The Mayor (Mr J. H. Shaw), and Councillors E. A. M. Leaver. G, W. Bishop, F. D. Muirson, S J B. Bargrove. R. A. Stokes, A. E. La wry, E. L. Smith, J. M’Creanor and J. S. Ainsworth. The Mayor referred to the fund which has been opened to provide a memorial to the late Mrs A. E. Herbert, and stated that a subscription list would be placed in the council office, to which he was sure residents would contribute gener°UThe Christchurch City Council wrote stating that the agreement relating to the allocation of heavy traffic fees would expire on March 31. If a majority of the local bodies in the district were agreeable to a renewal of the present arrangements, a conference would not be necessary. ' _ . The matter was referred to the standing committee. Amended plans of the proposed subdivision of the Ozone property at North Beach were approved.
