SUMNER ATHLETIC CLUB HAS EVENING MEETING.
The Sumner Athletic Club held the first of its series of evening: meetings at St Leonard’s Square last night. A good attendance of the public was interested in a varied programme that included races for the lady members of the club, as well as school boys’ and girls' events. The John Browne Cup for old boys of the Sumner District High School was won by G* Murray. At the conclusion of the programme, the Mayor, Mr W. H. Nicholson, apologised for the absence of the president. He expressed his pleasure at the interest taken by the members, and congratulated them upon the outstanding success of the Sumner Club at the meeting in the city on Saturday last. He was also pleased to know that other meetings were to be held later in the season. The Mayoress, Mrs Nicholson, then presented the prizes as follows: GIRLS' EVENTS. School Girls, 100yds—Pat Rowe 1, Lorna Klingstfdn 2, Marjory Lindrop 3. Senior Girls, 100yds—Gwen Dawe 1, Alison Bamford 2, Roma Bailey 3. Long Jump—-Alison Bamford 1, Audrey Dawe 2, Barbara Lindrop 3. BOYS’ EVENTS. School Boys, 440yds—Charlie Beck 1, Maurice Lawson 2, Douglas Watson 3. Junior Boys, 440yds—M. M’Caskey 1, M. Rudkin 2, N. Chapman 3. Junior Boys, 100yds—M. M’Caskey 1, N. Chapman 2, L. Mulholland 3. MEN’S EVENTS. Senior, 100yds—G. Murray 1, J. Bamford 2, D. Coleman 3. Seni.or, 880yds—R. Neville and K.
