GORSE FIRE ON HILLS CAUSES ANXIETY IN NEIGHBOURING HOUSES.
A grass and gorsA fire, which broke out in an empty section in Kidson Terrace, Cashmere, shortly before ten o’clock this morning, caused some anxiety to people who live in the neighbourhood, as the section was sur rounded by houses. Two engines sent from the central fire station, and after a stern fight the firemen were able to avert the danger. It is not known what caused the outbreak. When it was first noticed it had already a good hold. Luckily there was no wind, otherwise the danger would have been greater.
