CHRISTCHURCH. (Before Mr E. C. Levvey, S.M.) DRUNKENNESS. For drunkenness, Martin Joyce, aged forty-eight, was fined 20s, in default forty-eight hours’ imprisonment. TWO CHARGES. George Alexander Mills, thirty-three, labourer, was convicted and ordered to pay costs, in default twenty-four hours’ imprisonment, for drunkenness. He was fined 20s, or forty-eight hours’, for casting offensive matter in a public place. DANGEROUS SPEED. For driving in a manner dangerous to the public the following were fined: Sidney W. Andrews, 20s and costs; Stuart C. Bingham (Mr Cavell), 20s and costs; Thomas E. Calder, costs only; Colin B. Clark, costs only; Diamond P. Corrigan (Mr P. Barrett), 20s and costs; Frank L. Cowper, £2 and costs; Alfred Dolheguy, 10s and costs, and costs only for having no license and riding a motor-cycle on the footpath; Stanley G. Henry, costs only: James Moran, costs only; George Vere Smythe, 20s and costs. OTHER CASES. George F. Binney was fined 10s £nd costs for having no footrests on his motor-cycle, and 10s and costs for having no tail light. For parking over the time limit, Vincent Franovitch and Mrs I. Stringer were each fined 20s and costs. John Manson was fined 10s and costs for overloading a motor-cycle. George Rae Percy was fined £2 and costs for failing to license a motor lorry. Donald S. Rutledge was fined 10s and costs for having no footrests on a motor-cycle. For having no rear light on a motor-car, Leonard R. Ward was fined 10s and costs. Aubrey J. Gallop was fined 5s for having no warning device on a motorcycle. WAIMAIRI CASES. For driving in a manner dangerous to the public the following were fined: James Bryce, £2 and costs; Herbert John. Cole, 10s and costs; William Joseph Franklin, 20s; Frank Chambers Harris (Mr Johnston), 20s and costs; Paul Cornelius Holmes, 10s and costs; Frederick E. Jones, £2 and costs; Ronald William MacKinnon, 20s; Lillian Ada Nightingale, 10s and costs; Oscar von Sierakowski, 10s and costs. For passing a stationary tramcar, Mrs Eleanor Barker (Mr Wanklyn) was fined 10s and costs. (Before Mr H. P. Lawry, S.M.) MAINTENANCE CASES. Arthur Alfred Ritchie, for disobedience of a maintenance order, was convicted and sentenced to six months’ imprisonment with hard labour, the warrant to be suspended if he pays off 5s per week in arrears, in addition to the current order. An application for a maintenance separation and guardianship order was made by Catherine Grace Barrett against Jphn James Michael Barrett. A guardianship order to the wife, as between parties, was made, the child to be subject to State guardianship. Maintenance was fixed at 37s 6d a week, and past maintenance due at £3 17s 6d. The question of separation was reserved. On a similar complaint made by Dorah Greenwood Bradwell against Tom Brad-well, a separation and guardianship order was granted, and maintenance was fixed at 30s per week. An application made by Kathleen Henrietta Hamblin against Francis James Hamblin was dismissed. For disobedience of a maintenance order William Lynn was convicted and or^ e come U P f° r sentence if called upon within six months. Ronald Bertram Moher was ordered to pay maintenance at the rate of £1 per week in respect of a complaint made by Ethel Jane Moher for a maintenance order in that he had failed to maintain his child.
