TRAM AND CAR MEET IN HEAD-ON COLLISION.
A new Rugby motor-car struck a tramcar with considerable force in a head-on collision in Bowhill Road, North Brighton, at about 6.30 p.m. yesterday. Except for a shaking and minor bruises, the driver of the motorcar escaped injury. The car had its radiator forced back over the engine, and was severely damaged. The motor-car was proceeding along Bowhill Road towards the Memorial Hall at North Beach. When only a short distance from the tram, which was going towards the city, the car swerved to avoid a lorry which emerged from a gateway. The car struck a front step of the tram and ripped it off, and then spun round on its skidding wheels. The driver and a passenger in the rear seat of the motor-car received minor injuries. The accident occurred between Norton Street and Grantley Street.
