CONCESSIONS GIVEN USERS OF RAILWAY.
(Special to the “Star.”) AUCKLAND, December 7. Cheaper freight rates, suburban passenger fares, and an improved timetable were gained for the Waiuku branch railway line by a meeting between the tradespeople and the settlers with the General Manager of Railways last night. Mr Sterling attended with Mr A. W. Wellstead, business agent, following a rumour that there was a possibility of the line being closed.
