A social and exhibition was held in the Y.M.C.A. Concert Hall on Saturday evening. November 30. There were about 150 friends and club members present. Mr Cox made a capable M.C. The entertainment committee was:— Messrs Cox, Carter, G. Davis, R. Cox. M. Moriarty and R. Orme. In a speech at the beginning of the social, the president said that the club had learnt a great deal during the past winter. He also stated that there would probably be a fixed subscription next year. He thanked the many parents and friends for coming along. There were a large number of Meccano models on show, including many prize-winners of the recent Meccano building competition. There was also a running layout of Hornby trains, which was under the capable management of J. Freeman. G. Brown and'M. Averis. In addition, a large programme of musical items, including half an hour’s entertainment given by Mr Williamson, the magician Other items were given by Mr Gordon, R. Cox, M. Averis, C. Averis, W. Wilson, C. Larsen, A. Chappell and I. Jackson. During the latter part of the evening supper was served. At the conclusion Mr Coote, in moving a vote of thanks to the members of the club for the enjoyable evening, said that he was sure that in the years to come the parents would be pleased to do all they could for the benefit of the club. GRAND CHRISTMAS CONCERT. Our Christmas effort this year will take the form of a splendid concert, arranged by Aunt Hilda, from the best juvenile talent in the city. It will be held in the Choral Hall, at 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 12. Part proceeds are for new batteries and renewals to the wireless set at the Children’s Fresh Air Home, and the rest win be reserved for furnishing a larger clubroom, as the present one has been found too small for Circle work. Will every member of our large Circle try very bard to be present, and also to bring a friend? C s - - X
