ANTI-BRITISH SPIRIT IS VERY DISTINCT. STATES N.Z. MAN. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, December 5. The Hon W. H. Triggs and his wife arrived from London by the Ruahine after an extended tour, which included South Africa. Mr Triggs took part in the interparliamentary Conference in Berlin. He expresses himself as shocked at the racial bitterness in South Africa, and the distinctly anti-British feeling shown by the Hertzog Government. The treaty with Germany effectively debarred any further preference to Great Britain, and there was no disposition in official quarters to encourage either British-made goods, British immigration, or the investment of British capital. The anti-imperial spirit was shown chiefly in the Transvaal and the Orange Free State, and was strongly resented by Natal and Rhodesia, which were thoroughly loyal to the Mother Country.
