A third motor-driven mower is in commission on the banks of the Avon. The new machine is slightly smaller than the two others, which have a roller and seat attachment. The new mower has been engaged on the banks near Victoria Square. Use of these machines has enabled the City Council to extend its mowing operations further afield along the banks. The surroundings of the old Provincial Council Chambers are looking at their best now, and attract the attention of many passers-by. The brilliant colours of the rock plants and annuals are in a splendid setting of green sward and weeping willows. The tow path running between the buildings and the river is not used by many people, as the erroneous impression exists that that part of the river bank is not open to the public.
