SOUTH CANTERBURY DRAW ANNOUNCED.

A meeting of the Tournament Committee of the South Canterbury Lawn Tennis Association was held in the office of the secretary (Mr F. J. Cook) on Friday, when there were present: Dr Fea (in the chair), Alessrs R. Wilson, F. J. Robertson, A. N. Leslie, R. A. Holdgate, N. S. Crammond, W. S. Long and the secretary.

The dates of the tournament were fixed for January 1,2 and 3, 1930, these days being approved by the New Zealand Centre. The following list of officials was decided upon:—President, ‘Dr W. R. Fea; referee, Mr Warne Pearse; handicappers, Messrs G. F. Smythe, R. A. Holdgate and F. J. Robertson; committee, Alessrs G. Gamble, R. A. Holdgate, R. Wilson, N. S. Crammond, F. Oxford, A. J. Allport, F. J. Robertson and the secretary Mr W. L. Alitehell offered to donate a cup for the ladies’ singles championship. A vote of thanks was passed to Air Alitehell for his generous offer. The cup will be called the Alitehell Cliallege Cup. Messrs Robertson and Holdgate were appointed controllers of the first day’s games at the Wai-iti courts and Alessrs Wilson and Mantel! were appointed to similar positions at the Hlglifield courts. rt was decided that entries for the tournament close at 5 p.m. on December 2. Play is to commence at 9 a.m. each day. At the close of the Tournament Committee’s meeting, a meeting of the Management Committee was held at which Alessrs G. F. Smythe and P. <l. Robertson were appointed to control the ranking list, which is to consist of twelve men and twelve ladies.
