NEW TRAVELLING OFFICE IS NOW BEING BUILT.

RAILWAYS MANAGER TO HAVE A SPECIAL RAILWAY CARRIAGE.

The new travelling office which is being built for the General Manager of Railways. (Mr H. IT. Sterling) is now approaching completion at the Addington Workshops. Similar in lines to the car which was built for the Duke of York and which is now used as a Ministerial car, the new vehicle will be a handsome addition to the rolling stock of the Railway Department. All possible refinements are being incorporated in the new car. Sleeping accommodation for the General Manager and his private secretary, an office for the secretary, and a saloon office that will be large enough for Mr Sterling to meet deputations in, are the main features of the vehicle.

The coachwork is of steel plates, simitar to those in the Ministerial car, while the interior fittings will be of a standard much in excess of any found in ordinary first-class coaches.
