MORGAN V. TROWERN. (Special to the “ Star.") AUCKLAND. October 13. Negotiations have been in progress for some time to match Ted Morgan, the ex-amateur Olympic welter champion boxer, in Auckland, and private advice was received this afternoon that he will appear on Monday, October 28, against Reg Trowern. The advice is to the effect that Morgan has agreed to make lOst 31b to meet Trowern on the date mentioned for a purse of £l5O. Morgan went to Amsterdam in 1928 as th? New Zealand light weight boxing representative, but on account of making weight on the trip he had to enter in the welter class. He put up a very fine showing and eventually pulled oft the championship of his class, defeating R. L&ndinl (Argentine) in the final. On account of not being able to get amateur engagements on his return to New Zealand Morgan this season turned professional, and this month he has had two matches, against Stone (of Wellington) and Hughes (an Australian) in Dunedin, both of which he won .by the knock out route. He is a rugged boxer, who gives spectators plenty of action while he is in the ring.
