MORGAN AND CAREY WILL MEET HERE.

The Christchurch Sports Club has arranged a ten-round professional contest between E. Morgan, of Wellington, and W. Carey, the well-known local cx-ana-teur light and welter weight champion. Morgan is one of the best known boxers New Zealand has produced In recent years, having represented the Dominion at boxing at the Olympic Games held at Antwerp in 1928, where ho won the amateur welter weight championship. He recently joined the ranks of the professionals, and is such a gifted boxer that he must have a great future in the ring. In Carey, however, he will meet a clever, rugged and strong opponent. The amateur preliminaries which will be staged will Include a six two-minute contest between Colin Gardiner. New Zealand amateur heavyweight champion, and A. Campbell, of Oamaru, who fought out the final of the heavyweight championship. As Gardiner contemplates retiring from the ring at the end of this season, boxing enthusiasts will welcome the opportunity of seeing him matched again with Campbell, as these boxers provided one of the best fights at the recent championship tournament. Steve M'Kane, holder of the Fairbairn Cup, will fight a return match with CBrosnahan, of Ashburton. Both boys are fast, clever and keen boxers. Day sales are at Lange’s, United Service Buildings.
