SMALL YARDING OF FAT SHEEP AT ASHBURTON SALE.

Per Press Association. ASHBURTON. August 6. There was a surprisingly small attendance at the double market held at the Ashburton saleyards to-day. The yarding of fat sheep was disappointing, less than two races being offered. They contained some wellfinished ewes, but except for a few pens there was little outstanding. In wethers last week’s quality was maintained and the market was firm. There was a fair yarding of stores. Values in the fat pens to noon were:— Primest ewes—39s Id to 37s 7d, medium sorts 36s Id to 33s 7d, lighter down to 18s lOd, primest wethers 39s 4d to 38s Id, medium quality 36s lOd to 33s Id, lighter down to 27s 7d. One fat lamb sold at 33s 3d. Cattle—Only four head of cattle were offered and three were sold as follows: —Fat cow £9. Stores—Springing cow (Jersey) £B, cow and calf £9 15s.
