GAMBLING RESORTS BEING CLOSED IN CHINESE CITY.
MEXICAN OPERATORS UNDERGOING TRIAL. (United Press Assn.—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (Received July 6.. 9.15 a.m.) SHANGHAI, July 5. Following the example of the authorities of the International Settlement, Shanghai is exterminating all unlicensed forms of organised gambling, in an effort to reduce the motives for crime.. The French Settlement authorities have announced a similar plan, and simultaneously raided several popular roulette establishments, arresting hundreds of various nationalities. Five similar institutions were recently closed, and their Mexican operators are at present undergoing trial in the Chinese Provisional Court- Australian Press Association.
