POLICE FIGHT MAU IN APIA STREET.

APIA, June 15. Six members of the civil police, who were arresting a member of the Mau on Saturday morning at Apia, in the main street, were attacked by Mau men, who were armed with heavy batons. The police were reinforced, and a gene ral fight followed. Three of the police who were injured required medical attention, and others of the police suffered minor injuries. Fifteen members of the Mau were injured by the batons of the police. The arrest of the chief Tagaloa was finally effected. The present leader of the Mau, named Faumuina, unsuccessfully endeavoured to restrain the members of the Mau, and later addressed a gathering in front of the Post Office and advised them to await developments.
