HARRIERS.

CHRISTCHURCH CLUB. The Christchurch Harrier Club's teams race was held over the old championship course at Cashmere on Saturday. The weather conditions were good, and the course was in fair order, the times being considerably better than those recorded a year ago. The winner, J. G. Barnes, ran a splendid race, leading practically throughout, and winning by two minutes. At the start the pace was fast, Barnes and Austin getting away in front. At the ploughed paddock, Jackson took the lead, but was passed again by Barnes and Austin. At the end of about a mile and a half Jackson passed Austin and took second place, Barnes being about ten yards in front. A little further on, Jackson, who was going easily, lost a shoe, and was passed by several runners. Barnes was then leading by fifty yards from Austin, who was a few yards in front of Pascoe. Barnes, running strongly, led by a quarter of a mile at the water jump, Austin and Pascoe being together, just in front of R. XI. P.arrer. Barnes maintained his lead over the hill and ran in an easy winner. Austin staged just in front of Pascoe till over the last fence, when he went on to get second place by about thirty yards. Pascoe tired over the last hundred yards, and was just beaten by R. M. Barrer, who finished strongly. The rest of the field were strung out. The thirty-two starters all finished.
