A deputation of unemployed men waited on the Deputy-Mayor (Dr Thacker) at his residence this morning, and made assertions that some of the unemployed were given privileges which were denied .o the others. It was stated that some men were getting more than their share of work, that others were practically' in continuous work, and that outsiders were coming to Christchurch from all directions and* securing employment ahead of the local men. Dr Thacker told the deputation that he wanted full particulars of any such cases before he could take any action. If the things complained of were going on, he was willing to do his part in putting a stop to them. The League of Nations Union conference was concluded at Wanganui to-day. Dr J. Gibb was elected presi dent. Wellington was selected as the location for the Dominion executive for the ensuing year. An invitation was extended to hold the next conference at Timaru.—Press Association.
