HALSWELL DANCE.

A successful twilight carnival dance was held in the Ilalswell School on the King’s Birthday, in aid of the Halswell School fund. The dance was arranged under the auspices of Mr Reg Stillwell’s Dance Assembly. The ballroom was tastefully decorated, the attractive features being a beautiful arch of evergreens over the stage and festoons of coloured lights. Many entertaining novelties were distributed, and a confetti battle dance provided much amusement. The following were the winners of the various contests: —Misses H. Donaldson, Myrtle Cox, Withers, and Messrs A. Gazzard, R. Walker and A. M’Tavish. During the evening Mr Smith, the chairman of the School Committee, proposed a very hearty vote of thanks to Mr Reg Stillwell for organising the function, saying that it would result in considerable financial benefit to the school. Mr Stillwell, in reply, expressed his pleasure in assisting a worthy object. Music for a full programme of both old and new dances was supplied by Bradford’s Band. Mr Stillwell will hold another dance in the same hall in the near future.
