BIRTHDAY PARTY.

Recently an old time, all-day birthday party- was given by Mr and Mrs H. Harper, of Woodbine Farm, West Oxford, for the coming-of-age of their daughter Evie, and was a delightful success. The proceedings started with dinner with all the good things of the season. The afternoon was spent in football, tennis and games on the lawn. Then tea followed and the evening was spent with music and song. During tea Mr F. Harper proposed the health of the guest of the day. Mr H. Harper responded for his daughter and presented her with a gold key. Mr Wise, of Hastings, spoke for the guests present, thanking Mr and Mrs Harper for their hospitality. Three cheers were given for them and Miss Harper. Those present were: Mr and Mrs H. Harper. Mr and Mrs Bradshaw, Mr and Mrs Highsted. Mr and Mrs Grimsey, Mr and Mrs E. Taylor. Mr and Mrs C. Stanton. Highsted, June and Nola Harper (Christchurch), Joyce Watkins (Christchurch), Isobel Grimsey, Betty Stevenson (Rangiora), Messrs J. Wise (Rangiora), L. Young (Christchurch), G. A. Lasky (Rangiora), J. Lowe (Ha warden), A. Sinclair (Ry'dal Downs), W. Taylor (Rangiora), F. M’llraith (Southbrook), J. Passmore, D. Stevenson, (Rangiora), Masters C. Wise, Roy Stevenson, Reg Watkins, and Teddy Grimsey.
